3 Minutes Installation !

Where is a binary file?

Currently, there is no official download location but if you become a member by registering your information, you are eligible to test a version of MAEK for SharePlex/GoldenGate.

Become a member! Very easy.

Steps

Run a binary file

There is a single file having size of about 50MB.

After setup is done, you are supposed to see MAEK directories as following.

Two install log files are created in log/ directory.

If you encounter any issue during the installation, you can check if installation is done successfully or not by looking into those files. "Warning" message is an expected one.

If you find any other error, just capture the screen and send us log filesContact US!

Launch a Main Application

If you can see this screen, it is perfect! You are ready to register your Replication Stream.

Discovery of Replication Stream

You might have several Replication sets with various configuration type as following.

  • 1:1
  • 1:N
  • N:1
  • Bi-Directional
  • Cascading and so on.

Whatever the config is, MAEK would ask you to enter a Source credential information, and it will detect the relevant Targets automatically. Of course, you should provide its own credentials as well.

Note. With the current version of MAEK, in case there are 3 Sources, you should discover 3 times. It means that the number of Discovery depends on the number of Sources.

Click [Add Replication Stream] button in left bottom area, enter credentials of Source then click [Start Discovery] button. Here, Source information is registered and MAEK detects there is a target.

You should enter credentials of Target now.

In 3 seconds, you can see one Target is registered automatically and MAEK is saying there is no more target to discover.

Note. If you think something is wrong and you would like to remove a registered Replication view, then simply do right-click(Target) on Replication Stream listbox. Then, remove it. After that, you are allowed to register the Replication again.

You can also remove all replication views at a time in case there are several Replication sets.

Choose Replication View

In case there is a Source and two targets, you will see one row in blue and 2 rows in purple in Replication Streams listbox. Make sure you would just monitor 1 set of Replication Stream and we call it Replication View in MAEK.

It doesn't make sense? You should monitor all of your Replication Streams in once screen?

Definitely! You should do. MAKE also provides a DashBoard window and you are able to view all of your Replication Streams.

In this example, we select the purple row(Target) by double-click, then the Replication View(Source-Target) information is displayed in the top-right area.

Replication View is set up but still our Collector is not running.

Creation of Database objects

To maximize the efficiency of displayed data, MAEK uses database information as well. You should create several database objects from Replication Stream screen and it includes a small package named by maek_replication_pkg.

Before that, connect to database first.

Click [Database Repository] button in the right-center area, and push [Create] button. You can easily drop objects in the same window and if you have any trouble, probably you don't have required database privileges. In that case, you may want to click <question> mark to check which privileges are required.

All required objects are created without any issues.

Start Collectors

A Collector tries to connect to a remote server where Replication software(SharePlex), then gets performance metrics and config information. It is created as a Windows service, which means that even though you close a main application or CollectorApp, Collector is still running.

Let's launch a CollectorApp as a Administrator privilege(With a right-click, you see there is a menu).

Well Done!

Everything is done, and you can start monitoring your Replication now.
